There are several occasions that might lead you to decide on commissioning bespoke jewellery or works of art. Original designs are an ideal way to celebrate anniversaries, birthdays, weddings, professional achievements, academic milestones, and more.

Whether for yourself or a loved one, we would be pleased to involve you in the various steps of creating one-of-a-kind jewellery with us.

1. Starting the Idea

We welcome consultations about bespoke pieces.

Several things to keep in mind before we begin the conversation include the desired materials, size requirements, and your budget for the piece, to name a few. As part of understanding the design you wish to create, we will be asking you questions about your needs to make sure the design is viable.

This can happen over a phone call. Alternatively, we would be happy to set up the discussion at our office in Hatton Garden by appointment.

2. Drawings

After confirming your bespoke order, we typically create a technical drawing. However, sometimes we develop the concept in the form of computer-aided design (CAD) models to facilitate accuracy in the final design.

Materials and gemstones will be represented in their true sizes and shapes before production commences.

3. Sculpting the Details

We can then move on to sculpting your design from wax, a material much favoured by jewellers for its ease of shaping and ability to capture details.

At TVRRINI, we can leverage our expertise to hand-carve wax models for them to be different from anything else that is offered -- it will be exclusively your own.

4. Lost-Wax Casting

An ancient technique, lost-wax casting is able to capture intricate designs. From the wax workpiece, we make a mould then prepare it for casting. When the mould has solidified the waxes are burnt out, leaving a shell which is also known as a cavity. This shell is filled with metal, a step closer to your piece.

We will then clean and pre-polish the cast to remove imperfections as needed, ensuring it is ready for stone setting.

5. Gem Setting

Setting is an art in itself that needs expertise to guarantee a secure and attractive finished piece.

We will set the required gemstones and check they are correctly sitting inside before tightening the fit. Doing this ensures you can take pride in wearing or displaying your custom-made piece safely.

6. Finishing touches

The piece gets more polishing to buff out exterior scratches and bring out the sparkle.

For the ultimate gleam, we give the piece a gentle clean-up, plating the surface to protect your jewellery.

What is the estimated lead time for custom-made jewellery?

Generally, bespoke pieces will require at least 4 weeks to make after we finalise your design. This estimated lead time does not include the dispatching of your piece, so allowing for additional time to collect or have it delivered is essential.

The lead time may be longer, depending on the complexity of a design and whether our team is completing other commissions at the same time.

If you have an idea for a bespoke piece, we recommend you to contact us for the initial consultation as early as possible to avoid disappointment.

We would be pleased to know more about you and discuss your idea for a bespoke jewellery piece. Get in touch with Bibi at bibi@tvrrini.com or schedule a free online consultation with us.
