Craft your perfect engagement ring

Craft your perfect engagement ring

Made by TVRRINI. Tailored to your narrative.

When it comes to bespoke-made engagement rings, no solution is one-size-fits-all. Marriage proposal is one of our most significant and deeply-personal customs, and its central gift is much more than an accessory. Beyond the material worth or even tradition, we value an engagement ring for the bond that it symbolises; capturing this is the art of a jeweller.

Watching your ring come to life is an exciting experience that you’ll always remember. This article outlines the difference between custom-made and bespoke jewellery, types of engagement rings, and the process of going from concept to completed ring.

Together with our expert designers and goldsmiths, you can create a piece that uniquely reflects who you are—from your inspiration to lifestyle.

The contrast between custom-made and bespoke jewellery

While these terms are often used interchangeably, there are subtle distinctions that set them apart. When jewellery is custom-made, it means that it is tailored to meet specific requirements or preferences. This could involve choosing from a set of options, for example, ordering a custom-made ring from our collections with the choice of metal, plating, preferred gemstones and size.

On the other hand, bespoke jewellery is crafted to the exact specifications of the wearer. This often involves a high level of craftsmanship and attention to detail, resulting in a one-of-a-kind piece that is truly unique.

While both custom-made and bespoke items offer a personalised touch, the difference is the level of involvement in the creation process. Custom-made jewellery typically start with existing designs that can be modified to some extent. You can, for instance, use our ready-to-wear pieces as inspiration. Bespoke, on the other hand, starts from a 'blank canvas' with the possibility of re-purposing pre-loved jewellery, allowing for enhanced creative liberty.

Another important distinction is the level of craftsmanship involved. Bespoke items are usually handcrafted by skilled artisans, ensuring a high level of quality and attention to detail. Custom-made products may be produced in larger quantities using a mix of hand and machine processes.

Exploring the types of engagement ring

Choosing an engagement ring is a significant decision, and understanding the different styles available can help make the process easier. Below, we will outline the various types of engagement ring styles:

Classic Solitaire

The classic solitaire engagement ring features a single diamond or gemstone set on a simple band. This timeless style highlights the beauty of the centre stone and is perfect for those who prefer a traditional and elegant look.

Eternity

The stunning effect of eternity rings is due to its pavé setting. This is a term from French that describes small diamonds or gemstones set closely together on the band, creating a "paved" appearance. The added brilliance makes it a popular choice for those who love a touch of glamour.

Halo

A halo engagement ring features a centre stone surrounded by a circle of smaller diamonds or gemstones. The result is a scintillating, magnetic effect that will catch the eye and leave a lasting impression any moment with the wearer.

Trilogy

The three stone engagement ring, also known as a trilogy or trinity ring, features three stones symbolising the past, present, and future of a relationship. This style is rich in meaning, beautifully representing love and commitment in its numerous phases.

Revival

Contemporary engagement rings can reference previous eras. This could be as varied as the Hellenistic, Renaissance, and Victorian periods, with the boundless creativity of the current age. Revival rings may embed opulent details, classical motifs, or unique gemstone cuts, making them perfect for those who appreciate nostalgia and historical charm.

Modern

For those seeking designs that reflect current styles, modern engagement rings could be the perfect option. These rings often incorporate geometric shapes, asymmetrical details, and unconventional settings, appealing to wearers with a bold, rule-bending taste.

Which option is right for you?

Choosing between custom-made and bespoke ultimately depends on your preferences, budget, and the level of customisation you desire. If you are looking for a ring with some flexibility in design, then custom-made might be suitable for you. However, if you seek an exclusive piece that reflects your individual style, bespoke is the perfect choice.

At TVRRINI, we believe in striking the balance between our signature design and the wearer's personal style. We invite you to gather your references, be it historical or current, for your consultation with our artisan team who will take your ideas to exceptional heights. Take your time exploring the variety of options and choose a ring that genuinely resonates with you.

Commissioning your ring from us is a collaborative process, a dance of creativity and expertise. From the initial consultation to the final reveal, every step of the process is infused with clear communication.

Initial meeting

To start off the process, you’ll be invited to a consultation with Bibi, director of TVRRINI. This meeting can be set up online or in-person at our studio in Hatton Garden, London. Here, you can describe the vision for your ring—such as which gemstones you’ll want to the style and symbols to include in the design. It’s the time to be creative, where you can talk about your ideas, tastes, and inspirations.

We’ll also take the time to discuss the important factor of budget as it will invariably have an impact on the design. Keeping you informed on essential aspects of making your piece is of the utmost importance to us by ensuring you get the most satisfaction out of your order.

Visualising the concept

After consultation, with ideas laid down, we are ready to start visualising your ring.

Hand-rendering a life-size illustration is how we generally prefer to design. In some cases, we create a model in jewellery wax, especially when the ring is free-form and organic in the likeness of the Lava, Nisi, or Kara collections. In other cases, creating a resin prototype is most appropriate, as with intricate designs.

Along the way, you’ll be able to make changes and help transform the initial drafts into the ring that’s perfect for you.

Production can begin once we’ve settled on a final design. At this point, you can sit back while we make your ring a reality. Learn more about our craftsmanship.

Completing your purchase

We aim to achieve lead times of 3 to 4 weeks for each bespoke ring, but actual delivery times can vary. Once complete, we will deliver your ring in our elegant signature packaging, including our signature silk pouch for safeguarding the finished piece. Read this post for tips on how to care for your ring, and consider our frequently asked questions to help with your decision-making.

In the end, crafting your perfect engagement ring is a journey that requires patience, creativity, and a keen eye for detail. Similar to a sculptor chiselling away at a block of marble to reveal a masterpiece, you can craft a ring that is a true work of art, a symbol of your love and commitment that will stand the test of time.
